Following intermission, the orchestra explores themes of love, loss, and the mysteries of the eternal with the dramatic Prelude and Liebestod from Wagner’s tragic opera Tristan und Isolde and Strauss’ transcendent tone poem Tod und Verklärung (Death and Transfiguration).
